Lightroom 4 has just been introduced and I think we are all a bit surprised by such a quick release! I am excited about all the new features Lightroom 4 will offer you and I look forward to helping you through it. Pretty Presets will be offering brand new sets for Lightroom 4 and continuing to create sets for those who will be working in Lightroom 1,2 and 3. We will continue to support you in whatever way we can and look forward to this new adventure!
I am going to answer some common questions from those of you who may be upgrading to Lightroom 4.
Q. Will my presets and brushes work in Lightroom 4?
Adobe changed a few key sliders that we used in Lightroom 3 to create presets and brushes. So while some presets may work the same, there are others that will need to be customized. We have a video on customizing your presets here. There will be adjustments that will need to be made to these presets. For those of you who want one-click edit presets, please stay tuned. I have been working on new sets since the beta release and look forward to releasing them soon.
Q. Will you be coming out with new collections for Lightroom 3?
Yes, while I have been working on new collections for Lightroom 4 I have also been working on a new set for Lightroom 3. I realize not everyone will upgrade. Personally, I still use Lightroom 2 and Lighroom 3 on my desktop and laptop. I will work to satisfy Lightroom 1,2 and 3 users, as well as Lightroom 4 users. As always, I am dedicated to helping you with whatever platform you are operating in. I will continue to give you as much information, through posts and workshops, as you can handle!
Q. Will any old collections be updated to work with Lightroom 4?
All the current collections we offer will be available for those who are operating in Lightroom 1,2 and 3. We are currently developing a new and exciting product line compatible with Lightroom 4.
Q. Should I upgrade to Lightrom 4?
This is completely up to you! The great part about upgrading is that you will still have Lightroom 1, 2 or 3 available on your computer. So you can use both programs if you wish. If you see a big benefit in upgrading because of the new features then I would encourage you to do it. Some of the changes include adjustments to white balance, highlight and shadow recovery, video support, location-based photo organization and addition brush options. If the new updates aren't worth the $150 or $299 price tag then enjoy what version you are in and Lightroom 4 will be there when you're ready! Either way you go, we'll support you.
