PHOTO CHALLENGE: A PICTURE WORTH A THOUSAND WORDS
Have you looked at a picture and no words were necessary? You might have immediately empathized with the person whether it be in their joy or in their pain. Well, this week we had an incredible contest where the picture spoke for itself. We do love when you share the story behind them, too. A big thank you to everyone who entered. You've inspired us all!
We want to congratulate Karissa Collins and Summer Jackman for being the winners of this challenge. As always, it's so hard to pick just two images. But, both spoke volumes to us! Thank you for joining our challenge this week. We'll be starting another photo challenge in just a couple of weeks.
Karissa and Summer, please email me at email@example.com to redeem your $75 gift card. Let me know if you'd like it for Pretty Presets or Pretty Actions, too!
This is my new friend Makenna. Makenna was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia just 10 days before her 8th birthday. She was placed in the Very High-Risk Category of treatment due to a rare mutation in her leukemia cells. Makenna endured 10 months of high dose chemotherapy and followed that with 19 months of lower dose maintenance chemo. She's also had 23 spinal taps where they inject chemo into her spinal fluid, as well as 3 bone marrow biopsies and 7 blood transfusions. Through it all she has been amazing, never letting it crush her spirit or personality. Makenna has also become an advocate and spokesperson for several organizations that support childhood cancer research. During her treatment, Makenna received a "bead of courage" for each difficult task she faced, one white bead for each dose of chemo, one tortoise bead for each spinal tap, one bead for each port access or blood draw etc. They are a great way to visualize all she has been through and I feel grateful that she asked me to take pictures of her wearing her beads that she proudly said she has "earned". Makenna will end her treatment soon and celebrate being cancer free! She is the strongest and most brave 10-year old I know and I feel so grateful to know her!

gave birth to our 7th child on Tuesday at 11:56 pm. She was 11 weeks early born at 29 weeks and a complete miracle. We almost lost her several times during this pregnancy. And after 4 weeks on hospital bed rest we couldn't stop labor. When she came out we discovered the placenta was in worse shape than we thought and her birth was perfectly timed by God.
My amazing dr allowed me 30 seconds to take my own birth photo. After the hardest labor of my life and one push with my camera on my chest, I got this pic of her coming out before they rushed her to the NICU.
