It is so nice when I am reminded that there are wonderful people in the world! You are amazing for encouraging kindness and generosity. Although photography is really just a hobby for me at this point, I do have a "real" job as well.

In my line of work it can be difficult to remember that there are good people and it warms my heart to see all the generostiy here and in the photography community! Since I began working with homeless families I have found that my heart is full of peace, love, and empathy for those who struggle so much.

I have been tossing some ideas around about how I can combine my work and my photography. I am not at a professional level in my photography at all but I will find a way to do something to give these families something they may have not been able to do otherwise....family portraits!

Bless all of you who remember that sometimes kindness is all that matters!! Peace and love be with each of you!

My pay it forward... A story of love no matter the distance
(So I might have gotten carried away on my story but wanted to post it anyways, sorry for the long read) I'll post may image on Laura's wall.
Who would have thought seven years ago, I’d become friends with a great co-worker and develop an amazing friendship today! I’m doing her older daughter’s wedding pictures this summer, and have done her younger daughters senior and maternity pictures with in the last year and a half. They younger daughter I’ve been able to grow this relationship with and just have her close to my heart.
You see, Zack and Lauren met in the summer of 2004, when Lauren was 11. Then their paths parted when Zack moved away, and reconnected two years later while at a football game. They started dating Lauren’s 8th grade year. He moved in two houses down from her aunt’s house. This is when the love started to blossom and bloom into what it is today! Then while in High school they took the step in becoming teen parents, and did a fabulous job with their son during this time and both graduated!!
Then in the following March (2010) after graduating, Zack and Lauren made the big choice of Zack enlisting into the military, as Zack wanted to have his job focus be in Field radio operator in the Marine Corps. During the time of Zack enlisting and when he’d leave for Boot Camp, Lauren found out she was expecting their second Child. Zack still left for Boot Camp in San Diego at MCRD on June 19th 2011 and graduated in September of 2011. After Zach completed his Boot Camp, Lauren and Zach got married in California, on the beach of Coronado. Zack then got stationed in Camp Pendleton to finish his Military Combat Training.
Lauren during this time has been so lucky to have such amazing parents and has been staying with them since his enlist date. They’ve allowing her the greatest gift of all and be a stay at home mommy to her little ones during this time.
Back in of November of 2011, I was given the privilege of taking a very special maternity session. They were photos that melted my heart and I was beyond words. Just knowing that Zack has been gone during most of the time where he couldn’t feel his soon to be daughter moving or kicking, as well as seeing Lauren just glowing as an expectant mother. Just made me know that these photos were truly a moment in time that daddy will reminisce on time and time again.
Zack did get orders granted to surprise Lauren for a couple days at Christmas time, which she enjoyed very much. It was bitter sweet. January was coming to almost and end and her February due date was just around the corner. Then the end of January Zack and Lauren were hit with HUGE news that Zack was being re-stationed, for two year, overseas, to Okinawa, Japan none the less. And then the heart breaking news followed that the family wouldn’t be able to come with his as he was only going two and not three years. This was heavy news to carry for the both of them. Then their daughter had other plans of when she was coming, and Lauren delivered her January 30th 2012, sadly without her husband by her side.
Zack and Lauren were blessed with granted orders to come home for one last visit before Zack’s re-stationing to Okinawa, Japan from February 11th through the 15th. They were FINALLY able to be together as family for a couple days and he was able to enjoy seeing his beautiful baby girl for the very first time. Then bitter-sweet truly was the meaning of this visit, knowing that he was now leaving for Japan on February 16th.
Zack and Lauren have been together now for five years, and this is what Lauren has to say, “What I love most about Zack is that he would do anything for his family. That I feel safe when I’m with him. He has always just wanted to make sure we all were taken care of. That was his main reason for joining the Corps. He knew that if he was in the Military that we somehow we would always be okay.”
Literally hours before this challenge was posted, I was talking to my husband on our way to our fellowship group about how I just really had it on my heart to schedule a time and I just wanted to bless them with their newborn images. (as I knew that was the last thing on either of their minds, and the images would be something Zack could look at when he returns or once we get his address) I also wanted to take that time and be there as a friend for Lauren during this rough time. So Lauren and I met this week and we did their daughters newborn shoot. We can’t wait for daddy to see them too!
As you’ll see the image that’s with this “Pay it Forward Challenge” isn’t that of the newborn shoot, as daddy should rightfully see them first before anyone else. Although, I did however include an image I believe is moving, speaks a thousand words and touches a million heart strings.
I’ve been truly blessed to have met Lauren, been able to build a friendship with her, and having her know that I’m here by her side, through the journey she’s on during this time in her life. God is so GOOD!

I have a spreadsheet on my fridge where I keep up with all of my sessions. I have two columns-one says Paid sessions and one says Give sessions. We have the opportunity as photographers to not only bless people with beautiful images but to create ongoing happiness in another lives and constantly remind them of all the blessings God has given them. A few examples are, volunteering at church to photograph the infants for Baby Dedication ceremony, photograph a big event at your church like Vacation Bible School. Take pictures for a mother who is recently divorced or a military family who is about to be separated from their husband or father. Find what passion you have and go for it. Now I'm not saying give ALL your sessions away (we've got to eat!) and you don't want to ever feel taken advantage of, but set a goal for a certain amount of photos or events etc and stick with it-then seek those people or those opportunities to Pay it Forward. Sorry for commenting so long-this is a passion of mine too!

I actually don't own a business but I do photography for fun. I took newborn pics for someone yesterday that would never be able to afford a photographer. She will have all her pics edited and burned to disc for free. <3

I love paying it forward. I take pictures as a hobby, hoping it might turn into more. I like to add scripture to my pictures and send them to friends to encourage them. Thanks.

I sat down with a budding photographer this week, and explained all the controls on her camera. What A, S, Tv and so on stands for on her camera... We sat down for two hours. I remember being that person 5 years ago, and someone sitting down with me to share the craft. Good luck with the Pay it Forward! It's a nice idea....

I plan on paying if forward for a very good friends little sister. They're family doesn't have a lot of money to spend on anything. This girl is a senior in high school and will be lucky to get her cap and gown to walk in graduation. She also wasn't going to be able to get senior pictures taken. So I am giving her a free session along with all the final images so that she doesn't miss out on such an important part of her high school years. Things like this is the goal of my business anyway. To provide memories to those who don't have the kind of money a lot of photographers ask for these days.
