Tips for Editing a RAW Image

If you are new to shooting RAW files, one of the first things you’ll notice is that, when you import your RAW files from your camera into Lightroom, after the image preview has been on the screen for a second, it will suddenly change, and look different from what you originally saw in your camera’s preview! Without getting into too much technical jargon, the reason behind this is that a RAW file is not really a file that you can import and view as it is – think of it as sort of an abstract idea, not something tangible. The.. - Continue Reading

Here are some of my favorites:  “You don't make a photograph just with a camera. You bring to the act of photography all.. - Continue Reading

Can You Photograph People in the Harsh Midday Sun?

Yes, yes, and yes! While photographing in the middle of the day presents its own set of challenges, it can be done with great results.  Sure, taking pictures when the sun is high will not give you the dreamy colors and even exposures of golden hour.  High noon (and the couple hours either side of twelve o'clock pm)  gives you harsh shadows, some unwanted contrast, and squinty eyes.    It is my hope that this post will give you a few tricks to use when working with clients and photographing your family in the middle of the day.   Up.. - Continue Reading
